Félix Garreta, Betis central defender on loan to Amorebieta, in the Second Division, is in an induced coma after suffering a domestic accident at his home in Barcelona. The 20-year-old footballer fainted last week when he was at his home, in Palau-solità i Plegamans, in the province of Barcelona, which caused a head injury with serious injuries. “The Amorebieta Sports Society informs that the footballer Félix Martí Garreta recently suffered a head injury as a result of a fall in the domestic environment. The player on loan from Real Betis Balompié is admitted to a hospital, with a reserved prognosis and pending progress. The SDA remains in permanent contact with the footballer’s family and with his club of origin,” Amorebieta stated in a statement. The accident and Félix’s hospital admission were being carried out very quietly by Amorebieta and Betis at the express request of the family.
When they learned the news yesterday afternoon, the footballer’s teammates decided to cancel training at Amorebieta, penultimate in the Second Division, four points away from safety. The Basque team would even have proposed requesting the suspension of their next match on Sunday against Villarreal B, although it seems that in the end they will not ask the Federation. Félix no longer played in the Basque team’s last match against Eibar, a Basque derby that ended with a resounding 5-0 victory for the Eibar team.

Last summer, Manuel Pellegrini, Betis coach, gave his consent for him to play on loan at Amorebieta, in the Second Division. He was a starter for the Basque team, with 33 games played (31 in the League), scoring four goals and giving an assist. The idea of Pellegrini and the Betis coaches was to bring him back after this loan to do the preseason with the first team, since he is a footballer the Chilean coach likes.
