A good part of the municipalities of the Community of Madrid have heard your prayers and prepared numerous new parks that, in truth, they are a joy, especially when we remember what our parks were like: metal swings that were a death trap, burning slides and invisible zip lines. They were different times.
El Vivero Park (Colmenar Viejo)
We start with one of the most impressive collection of closed slides in the region. I can tell you that I would think twice if my son asked me to climb to the top with him since you have to climb almost as if you were Spiderman. Not suitable for children (or parents) with vertigo. Located next to the public pool, there is plenty of space to lounge in the shade under the trees. In Colmenar, by the way, you also have the Doctor Bachir Park on Transiberiano Street, very large with many areas for all ages.
The parks of Alcobendas
The children’s parks of Alcobendas deserve a special chapter: you can even make a park route for the more intense children. From El Hormiguero to the Ocean, passing through the Adventure Boat Theme Park or the Space Area. A luxury.
Plaza de España Park
The renovation of the Plaza de España has included several more than interesting children’s areas. Of course, it is a very popular area that, at times, offers tragicomic scenes with desperate mothers and fathers looking for their children among the tidal wave of laughter, screams and clashes of heads: like a senior disco at rush hour. So leave your cell phone alone and focus on your children: the best thing is to put a phosphoric bib so that there is no loss, or a collar with a light at night, like your dog.
The slides of Madrid Río
We continue in the capital and approach another of the hot spots for children’s leisure. The slides in this park are also usually quite crowded, but it is worth it. Although be careful because you will not be the first adult to have a accident jumping down these slides. We know that there has been some breakage of the tibia and fibula.
Great Toboggan Park in Rivas-Vaciamadrid
We are going south to enjoy a collection of slides ideal for slightly younger children due to their lower slope. They say that they generate static electricity and in some cases they do not slide well, but the truth is that it is a “problem” (at least that of static electricity) common to many slides.
Europa Park (Torrejón de Ardoz)
This space cannot be missed, not only for its more or less kitsch collection of European monuments, but also for its playgrounds, near the replica of the Puerta de Alcalá: It has two zones, one for slightly older children and another for little ones. Of course, the level of attendance is also very high in high season.
El Montecillo Saurio Park (Las Rozas)
It is time to visit one of the most original parks in the Community of Madrid, betting on the wood as raw material to shape various animals, among which a large dinosaur stands out. It also has plenty of shaded areas and tables for snacking.
Valdebebas Park
It is one of the best parks in Madrid, although it lacks shade in various places. But the children have a great time especially in the southeast area where we find a collection of metal slides. There is also a picnic area, a zip line and a lake. A good place to spend the afternoon outdoors.
Cerro del Aire Park (Majadahonda)
A park along the same lines as the one we have seen in Las Rozas, with many Wooden figures, like a lion and an owl, as well as various spaces for all kinds of games. In addition, this park has an area for beach volleyball. It is located north of the Cerro del Aire Health Center.
Sanchinarro Castle Park
Although it already has several defects despite its recent opening, it is one of the best parks in the area due to the number of interconnected spaces it has: from medieval castles to zip linesslides of all kinds and a pirate ship, which can never be missing.
Caleido Park
After the fifth tower of the Cuatro Torres complex you have another new park in an environment that will delight architecture fans. So, while your child waits in line to go down the zip line, you can look up and enjoy the profile of the buildings. Yes indeed, lack of shadow because the trees in the area have not yet grown enough. Several grassy spaces can also be used for some soccer games.
Playground in Olmedo de las Fuentes
But if you are looking for a playground in a slightly more serene environment with the noise of a stream instead of car horns, we recommend that you visit the Olmedo de las Fuente playground in the Madrid Alcarriawhere you also have a sports center for public use right next door.
