"You can't trust the devil": keys to Volodymyr Zelensky's speech at the UN General Assembly | The USA Print

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky offered a historic speech at the United Nations General Assembly this Tuesday, being the first in which he intervened in person, and in which he denounced human rights violations committed by the Russian government of Vladimir Putin.

Dressed in olive green, the color that has defined him since the Russian offensive began, he entered the chamber and received recognition from several nations that applauded him in recognition of the resistance that his country has had in the face of the aggressions it suffers and the hundreds of victims.

These are the key points of the Volodymyr Zelensky’s speech to the General Assembly of the United Nations, which takes place in New York City, in the United States:

1. “Genocide” against Ukrainian children

Volodymyr Zelensky claimed that Vladimir Putin’s government allegedly kidnaps Ukrainian children and teaches them to “hate Ukraine” and break ties with their families.

“And this is clearly a genocide,” said the president of Ukraine.

2. Invitation to the Peace Summit

The Ukrainian president called on all leaders who are against the war to participate in the World Peace Summit and asked them to help organize it.

“I invite all of you, all those who do not tolerate any aggression, to jointly prepare the summit,” he said.

3. Russia cannot possess nuclear weapons

Zelensky also stated that Russia, which is a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, cannot be allowed to possess nuclear weapons.

“Terrorists have no rights,” he said.

4. Food and energy as a “weapon”

He accused Putin’s government of using energy and food as a “weapon” to pressure countries around the world.

“The aggressor is using many other things as weapons and he uses those things not only against our country, but also against yours,” the Ukrainian president warned.

5. “Deals under the table”

He also assured that Russia is trying to gain the support of some countries with “under the table deals” and warned them that “the devil cannot be trusted.”

Zelensky will present to the Security Council on Wednesday the details of his plan to achieve peace, which has already received the support of the United States and the European Union.
