XXXTentacion killers are sentenced to life in prison | The USA Print

Three men were sentenced to life imprisonment on Thursday for the rapper’s murder XXXTentacion 2018, who was shot outside a motorcycle shop in South Florida while stealing $50,000.

Michael Boatwright, 28, Dedrick Williams, 26, and Trayvon Newsome, 24, They were found guilty last month of premeditated murder and armed robbery by a jury after eight days of deliberations.

Prosecutors had not requested the death penalty, so the life imprisonment it was the only sentence that Broward County Circuit Judge Michael Usan could hand down for the premeditated murder.

During the month-long trial, prosecutors linked Boatwright, Williams and Newsome to the June 18, 2018 shootingoutside Riva Motorsports in suburban Fort Lauderdale for multiple images of security video taken inside and outside the store, as well as cell phone videos the men took of themselves showing off $100 bills hours after the killing.

Prosecutors also had testimony from a fourth person involved, Robert Allen, who was a friend of the defendants and said he participated in the robbery. Allen pleaded guilty last year to intentional manslaughter. His sentence was adjourned until the trial of the other three defendants was completed.

Allen’s sentence could be equivalent to the time he has spent behind bars, for which he could soon be released, or reach life imprisonmentdepending on how much weight prosecutors place on his involvement in the homicide.

Defense attorneys accused Allen of being a liar motivated by his desire to avoid a life sentence.. They also said that prosecutors and detectives did a poor job of investigating and did not look at other possible suspects, including Canadian rap star Drake, who had a feud with XXXTentacion In Internet.

XXXTentacion, whose real name was Jahseh Onfroy, had just left Riva Motorsports with a friend when a van swerved in front of him, blocking his path.

Surveillance video showed two masked gunmen emerging and confronting the 20-year-old singer in the driver’s window, one shooting him multiple times. They then took a Louis Vuitton bag containing cash that XXXTentacion had just checked out of the bank, they got back in the truck and sped away. The rapper’s friend was not injured.

Boatwright was identified as the lead shooter and Newsome was accused of being a co-shooter. Williams was charged with driving the truck and Allen with being inside the vehicle.
