The technical director of FC Barcelona, Xavi Hernández celebrated the resounding 5-0 win this Tuesday that they gave to Antwerp of Belgium in the team’s debut on the first day of group H of the UEFA Champions League.
The match held at the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium in Barcelona saw how the Blaugranas were a steamroller from start to finish and that was part of Xavi’s analysis of his team’s play in the 90 minutes.
“We are in the best moment since I have been Barcelona coach. I have the feeling that we play much better football,” said the Catalan coach.
Xavi highlighted the team’s positional play and praised the step forward of his players in the midfield, especially Gündogan.
“When Gündogan has the ball everything improves. It has fallen from the sky and we play better because of players like him“, stressed the coach.
Xavi thanked the presence of the 40,989 fans who went to the stadium to support the team and asked for calm despite his team’s good start.
“Last year we were also in this situation and it didn’t go well for us, we have to give continuity to all this,” said the Barça coach, although he was clear: “If we continue like this, we can compete for the Champions League.”
