WWE received a large amount of money from the Welsh government for holding Clash at The Castle in their country. It is estimated that the agreement was 10% of the profits that the country obtained for holding the event.

WWE received a large sum of money for holding Clash at The Castle in Wales

According to The Wrestling Observer, a press release from April 2023 ended up revealing how much WWE received from Welsh government subsidies for Clash At The Castle last year.

As Wrestlenomics reported, the statement claimed that last year’s event “delivered a whopping 10:1 return on investment by funneling £21.8 million back into the Welsh economy.” This would mean just under 28 million dollars.

This means that the cost paid by the government to bring WWE to Cardiff was one tenth of what is approximately $2.8 million. This is not surprising considering that Nick Khan previously stated that WWE will look to profit from any live Premium Events in the future.

In the main event of the show, Drew McIntyre unsuccessfully challenged Roman Reigns for his titles. McIntyre would lose the match even though the fans were fully behind him and thus fans are wondering if he will ever get another shot at Roman Reigns. Anyway, WWE once again achieved great financial success in holding the event in Wales and it is something that it will continue to use for its next PLEs.
