As he was walking in downtown Manhattan, Rafael Ribot was “randomly” attacked by a group of seven youths, who hurled anti-gay slurs at him before stabbing, kicking and beating him.

The 44-year-old victim was talking on his cell phone as he was walking down 10th Avenue near 43rd Street around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday when he was surrounded by the horde of strangers who, without being provoked, began yelling anti-gay epithets at him. the New York police said.

Ribot, who identified as gay and has since been released, told Pix11 who responded to the insults, after which the confrontation took a violent turn. the suspects they began to beat and kick him repeatedly, before stabbing him with a knife in the thigh.
