Melania Trump, the wife of the former president of the United States, is not seen publicly since before the Republican went to a New York court to respond to charges of falsifying business records.
Hours after Trump obtained information that he would be the first former president in US history to be criminally prosecuted, the couple went to dinner on the patio of the Mar-a-Lago restaurant in Florida, where they reside.
Melania smiled reservedly as Trump supporters cheered and applauded.
Images of the couple in the place were captured on March 30.
Since that date, the whereabouts of the former first lady have not been known.
Melania also did not attend the arraignment in the Supreme Court of the County of New York in Manhattan for a alleged bribery in 2016 to the porn actress Stormy Daniels so that he would not publicly divulge details of his sexual encounter with Trump in 2006. Through his then-attorney Michael Cohen, Trump reportedly paid Daniels $130,000, authorities in the state allege.
Last Tuesday, Trump heard all 34 charges against him and pleaded not guilty without Melania present.
Shortly after the criminal prosecution in NYC, Trump offered a message from Mar-a-Lago in which his partner was not present either.
In his speech, the Republican mentioned his children but not the former model.
“I have a son here who has done a great job and I have another son who has done a great job; and Tiffany and Ivanka ”, Trump highlighted in his address in which he declared that he never imagined being in a situation like that (defendant). “And Baron will be great one day. He is tall and smart. But I have a great family and they have done a fantastic job and we appreciate it very much”, he added.
“I never thought that something like this could happen in the United States. The only crime that I have committed is to fearlessly defend our nation from those who seek to destroy it,” insisted the former president.
Despite Melania’s absence from her husband’s public life, sources who know the Slovenian immigrant as her former assistant, Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, say she will not abandon him.
“Melania lives in an ivory tower of denialWinston Wolkoff told Page Six.
“I never expected her to go there (to court). Her silence is deliberate, it is her favorite weapon and her protective armor, ”added Melania’s also former adviser.
“Of course she knows about Donald’s adventures, she knows everything.. But his silence is his dignity. She will be by her husband’s side as always. I do not think that Melania feels humiliated by her adventures, but she is upset, ”she raised.
Lauren Wright, a political scientist graduated from Princeton University and author of two books on presidential politics, expressed herself along the same lines.
“I am not surprised that Melania is nowhere to be found in her husband’s speech. after the indictment,” said the expert quoted by the Daily Mail. “Throughout the Trump presidency, when the Stormy Daniels issue came to light, Melania asserted her independence in one way or another, either by evading the issue…contradicting those who claimed to know his feelings about the alleged extramarital affair,” he added.
Trump’s affair with Daniels was reported a year after the couple’s 2005 wedding, the same year Barron was born.
