Australian Rachael Gunn, known in breaking as B-Girl Raygun, defended her breakdancing skills in a televised interview in her home country and suggested that much of the criticism she received during the Paris Olympics was born out of ignorance of the sport. Gunn became an overnight sensation after losing her three round-robin battles by a combined score of 54-0 as breaking made its Olympic debut at the Place de la Concorde. An online petition accusing Gunn of manipulating the qualifying procedure to win her place in Paris attracted 50,000 signatures before it was removed at the request of the Australian Olympic Committee. Gunn said she was unlikely to compete again in the near future but was confident she would emerge from her Paris experience relatively unscathed.
