Video of a runaway cow on a Michigan highway, being tied up by a cowboy, went viral, garnering thousands of views.
The cowboy lassoed the animal before pulling it off the Michigan interstate to safety.
Michigan State Police officers were attempting to get the cow off the busy highway, however, they relied on cowboys for help after the creature “outsmarted” its adversaries.
In a thread on Twitterofficers explained the events that unfolded on Interstate 75 (I-75) and showed the moment the cow was tied up.
“Cowboys were on the shoulder of I-75 with horses and four-wheelers when they attempted to apprehend the suspected bovine but were unsuccessful in their attempts,” Michigan State Police tweeted.
“The cow managed to circumvent their warnings and entered the northbound lanes of I-75. The cowboys chased the cow with four-wheelers, horses, and lassoing in every lane of travel.”
Police added that “finally, after a lot of fooling around, the creature was captured and taken off the highway” and the highway was quickly reopened to traffic.
Taken from police dash cam footage, the video shows the cow running from the curb to the road before a cowboy in a white cowboy hat mounted his horse in pursuit.
Cars sped past the cow, but the cowboy tied the animal up and police led her into green pastures.
The animal was initially trapped in a roadside gravel pit, but a team of cowboys “comparable to the cast of Yellowstone” were unable to catch the cow, police said on Twitter.
Michigan State Police joked that the cow has not been charged and “is back in the pasture with a story to tell all the other cattle.”
