This Wednesday, Spain will face Uzbekistan in its first match at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. La Roja plays after just over a week in which the senior team became Euro champions for the fourth time in its history.
The footballers Fermín López and Álex Baena, two of the champions of the European Championship in Germany, are already concentrated with the rest of the players of the under 21s. The squad that the coach Santi Denia has selected are: the goalkeepers Arnau Tenas and Joan García; as defenders, Eric García, Marc Pubill, Jon Pacheco, Miguel Gutiérrez, Pau Cubarsí and Juan Miranda; in the midfield are Turrientes, Adrián Bernabé, Pablo Barrios, Aimar Oroz; and up front are Sergio Gómez, Diego López, Samu Omorodion and Abel Ruiz. The reserves Iturbe, Juanlu Sánchez, Mosquera and Camello are already in France.
The team coached by Denia is one of the favourites to win gold. They came close to winning the title at the last European Championship and at the Tokyo Olympics. The Spanish team has two silver medals, one gold and many absences in its history at this championship.
