Up-and-coming Puerto Rican businessman opens his first business

Rafael Rosario, worked for 25 years for others. He helped advance various doctors’ offices and clinics, but he knew that at some point he had to strike out on his own and open his own business.

Well not just. Together with their partner John Rivera they have made their dream come true: the inauguration of a community center where the neighboring population (mostly Hispanic) can socialize and spend memorable moments.

It was this week that the facilities of Angel’s Insurance Group and its community center.

Rosario made a small opening last year to begin guiding the community with the application for Medicaid, Medicare, Obama Care health plans, as well as with the application for food stamps.

Different events have also been held such as bingo, domino tournaments and birthday celebrations for attendees.

“We do a lot of events for the community, not just for seniors but for all people who need services. If they don’t have a place to hang out, well, they already have a place. Here we are going to have fun,” Rosario said.

The site is open Monday through Friday and food bags are sometimes delivered to families.

“Last year I said that I wanted to help the community by opening a center here and I did it. Since then I do events, sometimes we have parties where people dance and they don’t want to leave because they have a lot of fun. That is what we need: meeting centers where our older adults can have fun,” explained Rosario.

The opening was attended by members of the Gateway District organization who welcomed him as a new member. The Angel’s Insurance Group Community Center is located at 3303 South Semoran Blvd., Orlando, on the third floor.

“We want to show our appreciation for being in our district, in our corridor bringing your business. The commissioner is here and today we are giving you your certificate and your Gateway membership,” announced Amilcar Córdova, executive director of the Gateway District who was accompanied by Orlando city commissioner Tony Ortiz and former representative Daisy Morales.

“This is my first business. I spent many years working for other entities and the time came. Why not do it in order to better benefit those who need insurance or who need a medical office. We are here and I am very happy because I like to serve”, concluded Rosario.
