The Las Palmas Sports Union announced this Tuesday that it is dismissing its coach Luis Miguel Carrión, since the team has not yet known victory in the EA Sports League. Three draws and six defeats have led to the departure of Carrión, who had a contract with the club until June 30, 2026. The poor results at the start of this season place the Canary Islands team at bottom in the table, five points away from the permanence positions in the First Division. This is the first dismissal of a Primera coach this season.
Diego Martínez aims to be Carrión’s replacement. Martínez was coach of Granada CF between 2018 and 2022 and, subsequently, of RCD Espanyol from 2022 to 2023. At the end of last year his contract with Olympiacos ended and since then, the Galician was without a team. Through the statement, UD Las Palmas wanted to thank Luis Carrión for “his dedication and professionalism” and wished him “the best of luck, both on a personal and sporting level.”
