Stefanos Tsitsipas beat Serbian Dusan Lajovic this Saturday (5-7, 6-4 and 6-2) in the semifinals of the Barcelona Open. The Greek achieved a new comeback after falling in the first set, as he already did against the Argentine Facundo Díaz Acosta in the quarterfinals, and will play the final of the tournament against Casper Ruud, as happened last Sunday in Monte Carlo.

The Norwegian, who on the contrary will reach the final match without having lost a set, got his ticket after beating Tomás Etcheverry (7-6(6) and 6-4). At the end of the match, Ruud assured that this Sunday he will compete for “the most important title” of his career and praised the effort of his opponent: “It was a difficult match. I think today I played my best game in Barcelona against a very tough opponent. Tomás is playing fantastic tennis, he has improved a lot in the last three years,” added the Norwegian.

Opposite will be a Tsitsipas who is having a great moment, after having won the title in Monte Carlo last Sunday and now finding himself one match away from winning a new trophy, just a week later. It is the fourth time that the Athenian has qualified for the final of the Barcelona Open, an instance in which he has fallen on the three previous occasions: twice against Rafa Nadal and once, the last, against Carlos Alcaraz in the previous edition.
