This is what two psychologists from the
University of Missouri,
Lindsay Barber and Lynne Cooper, who have dedicated themselves to investigating what happens to us when after a heartbreak we seek comfort in other arms. The first thing these heartbreak researchers discovered is that “one nail pulls out another” is more common than we think:
in more than half of the couples who break one of the members resorts to the consolation of spiteful sex.

Did falling into temptation serve you any purpose? Well, for now, according to both psychologists, this type of behavior only serves to check our self-esteem and how good our relationship was. In their studies they found that the
people who were less committed to their relationship and those who had an insecure personality were the most likely to fall into this type of sex.
Furthermore, both psychologists warn that there are differences between
sex for revenge and sex for spite: the objective of the first is to hurt the couple and the objective of the second is to relieve the pain of disappointment. We do not know if the attitudes shown in swimming pools, parties and bedrooms by the participants in this edition of Temptation Island obey the rules of the first type or the second, but it is clear who is ahead in this race:
