The Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to expand, and it’s increasingly likely that we’ll see unlikely encounters of our favorite characters from the franchise on the big screen. Tom Holland, known internationally for his role as Spider-Man in the MCU, wants his character to meet Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine in a future project of the blockbuster superhero film franchise. Of course, with Deadpool 3 in development, Holland’s idea doesn’t sound too far off.
During a recent interview with Forbes (via Comic Book Resources) to promote his new Apple TV+ movie The Crowded Room, Holland shared his excitement about Deadpool 3 coming with Reynolds and Jackman on board. The outlet asked him if he had considered the possibility of his Spider-Man crossing paths with Wolverine and Deadpool, to which the 27-year-old actor enthusiastically responded:
Yes, of course. I’m a big fan of those two guys.
The Spider-Man: No Way Home star continued:
I’m sure the movie is going to be fantastic. I know you have George Cottle (Jr.) on your side right now as your stunt coordinator and second unit director. You couldn’t ask for a better guy. So I’m very excited for the movie. I wish them all the best and I can’t wait to see those two do it.

Ryan Reynolds debuted as Wade Wilson, aka Deadpool, in the movie X-Men Origins: Wolverine in 2009. However, it was in 2016 that he starred in his own movie as Deadpool, simply titled Deadpool. This movie was a huge hit both at the box office and with fans, and Ryan Reynolds received praise for his performance.
The Canadian actor’s portrayal as Deadpool was so successful that it led to a sequel, Deadpool 2, released in 2018. In this film, Reynolds continued to develop and expand on the character, again receiving praise for his performance. His participation in the project was key to the success of the franchise and to Deadpool’s recognition as a popular character in the superhero universe.
For his part, Hugh Jackman played Wolverine for nearly two decades, from his first appearance in X-Men in 2000 to Logan in 2017. The Australian actor was widely praised for his performance as Wolverine, becoming one of the most popular portrayals. beloved and memorable superheroes on the big screen. His portrayal earned him a huge fan base and allowed him to establish himself as one of Hollywood’s top stars.
After Logan, Jackman decided to retire from the role of Wolverine, which was a bittersweet moment for fans. However, the public jumped with excitement when it was revealed that Jackman would reprise his role as the iconic comic book character in a new installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
While it sounds quite possible that Holland’s Peter Parker will bump into Deadpool and Wolverine onscreen, fans will have to wait until Deadpool 3 arrives to see how things play out. A rumor has recently circulated suggesting that actors like Halle Berry, James Marsden, and Famke Janssen could reprise their roles as Storm, Cyclops, and Jean Gray in Deadpool 3, though none of this has been confirmed.
Fans are already counting down the days to see Deadpool and Wolverine’s highly anticipated big-screen encounter in Deadpool 3, which will be rated for adults. In an interview with EW in February of this year, Kevin Feige, the president of Marvel Studios, expressed how happy he was to have Jackman in the cast of Deadpool 3 and confirmed the film’s R rating (via Comic Book):
It’s amazing. And we have Hugh Jackman returning for our first Deadpool movie in the MCU. It’s our first R-rated movie.
Deadpool 3 is scheduled to premiere on November 8, 2024.
