SAN JUAN – Three people died and two were injured in a shooting that took place this Monday near a business in Guayama, in the south of Puerto Rico.in the second multiple murder that occurred on the island this 2023.
Agents of the Police Bureau, attached to the Guayama District, were alerted to an incident with five gunshot wounds in the El Campesino business.
Three of the five injured were in very serious condition and died at the scene. located on highway 179, in the Guamaní neighborhood, according to the police statement.
The other two injured were transported to a hospital to receive medical assistance and, at the moment, their condition is unknown.
Personnel from the Homicide Division of the Guayama Criminal Investigation Centertogether with the prosecutor on duty, will take charge of the investigation.
This is the second multiple murder that has occurred so far this year in Puerto Rico. The first took place on February 20 in the Jardines de Cataño public housing complex, where two adults and a child under 4 died.
A large part of the violent deaths that are registered on the island are linked to settling accounts related to drug trafficking.
