The last weekend of July can be enjoyed in many ways: for a week now everything between Montjuïc and the Paral·lel has been breathing street parties, so it’s best to take advantage of the last events full of popular culture and concerts. However, if you miss dressing up, you have to go to Castelldefels, where the only summer carnival in the whole country is held. We also recommend the last concert that can be enjoyed on the roof of the Museum of History of Catalonia or, for singles over 35, a festival dedicated exclusively to them in a spectacular Masía in Maresme.
Last days of festivities in Poble Sec
The neighborhood celebrations come to an end And if you feel like dancing, the best thing to do is head (from 6pm to 2am) to the Parc de les Tres Xemeneies: the trendy cocktail bar in the neighbourhood, El Rouge, is organising a party with DJs such as Meneo, Tawa or one of those who never miss closing Primavera Sound, DJ Coco. The end of the party will be a little later, at 10:00 p.m., with the fireworks display in the Parc de les Tres Xemeneies.
Castelldefels recovers the only summer carnival
Although in Brazil it is the most normal thing in the world, here we find it strange not to celebrate carnival with warm costumes. The exception is in Castelldefels: This coastal city in the metropolitan area is once again, 10 years later, the only one that will bring out floats and costumes in the middle of summer. This Saturday, at 7:00 p.m., there will be a parade with different groups that will go along the entire seafront until they reach, at 8:30 p.m., the car park on Calle México. There will be a concert at the end of the festival and prizes will be awarded to the best group, float, choreography or costume. Maybe, when you see what the winners take home, you will sign up with your friends next year.
The techno-rumba of Speak of Me in Present
The Museum of History of Catalonia (Plaça de Pau Vila, 1) is once again organising its series of concerts on its spectacular rooftop with views of Port Vell. After welcoming Rita Payés and Ferran Palau, this Wednesday is the last opportunity To enjoy Summer Nights at MHB with a band that will make you jump and dance to all their attendees. Habla de Mí en Presente are five members from different parts of Europe who met in Berlin and who define themselves as an “international techno-rumba band”. A few months ago they presented their latest album (Everything comes out) with such festive collaborations as Make Life with Triquell or What you needed with Muchachito Bombo Infierno. The concert is at 10:00 p.m., but the ticket includes a prior visit to an exhibition that explains the history of music in Catalonia since ancient times.
‘Bésame Fest’, the festival of singleness +35
