In a press conference on Wednesday, the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), the largest and oldest Hispanic organization in the United States, issued a travel alert to Florida, in addition to its president, Domingo García, warning that he will present a lawsuit against the state.
“We believe that Florida has committed several very cruel, immoral and unfair uses with immigrants (by using them) as political piñatas with the purpose of obtaining votes basically,” Garcia said.
He added that the state is becoming “dangerous and hostile” for Americans and immigrants.
Ana Maria Hernandezfield director at the Florida Immigrant Coalition, explained to the podcast “El Diario Sin Límites” that one of the most worrying sanctions with the new law is that a third degree crime for a person to transport undocumented immigrants to the state.
