The sculptor from Avila Santiago de Santiago has passed away this Saturday at his home studio in Madrid at age 97 due to respiratory failure.
The family has informed EFE of the death of the artist, author of various sculptures throughout Mexico, Denmark, Japan, the Czech Republic, Russia, Greece and particularly Spain.
Born in Navaescurial (Ávila), Santiago de Santiago is author of busts made to the Royal Family at different times of his life and has received the 1st Class Military Cross with White distinction, the SEK gold and diamond medal and the gold medal for Merit at Work.
