Any parent wants the best for their children. In my case, I did the impossible for my daughter Isabel to become a fan of Real Madrid. And that I am a mattress to the core. I fought with all my might to convince her that madridistas, used to winning, have a life without so many shocks, they don’t suffer so much. I took advantage of almost any occasion when Isabel asked me about Atlético de Madrid to try to redirect the conversation to our eternal rival. I was like that for years. However, my efforts were in vain and I failed in my task.
Isabel, at 11 years old, is now my favorite mattress. I am very excited to see her dressed in the team scarf and one of my old jerseys, the one from the 1996 double. She reminds me of her age. When I was a kid, I asked my parents for permission every Friday to have dinner wearing the red and white shirt. thing i keep doing
From all this I have drawn a conclusion. Thanks to all the pressure I put on her to become a Real Madrid player, I think she taught him a healthy way of experiencing rivalry. Normalize that there should be no problem with the fans of another team.
For me football is a source of inspiration. A few years ago, while playing a party with some friends, I broke three bones in my right leg: the tibia, the fibula, and the malleolus. It was horrible. They operated on me and they put six nails in me. I asked the doctors if I could play again; They told me it would be impossible.

My injury coincided with a time when I received some of the worst news of my life: my mother, Isabel, was diagnosed with leukemia, a blood disease that can be terminal. The doctors gave her a year to live, but she had the strength to last up to six. Her struggle marked me and I forced myself to continue improving myself until I never gave up. What a coincidence that this is precisely the motto of any self-respecting athlete.
I couldn’t let my mother down, so I fought as hard as I could until I was able to play soccer every week again. To remember her I did two things. I got the phrase ‘I love football’ tattooed on my right ankle, the one I broke a couple of years earlier, and every time I see it I am reminded of the woman who gave me the life and then gave me strength to enjoy it. The second thing I did was name my daughter after her. Good thing she ignored me and she became athletic. In life you have to work hard to get what you want.
