This Friday a tragedy was close to happening in the field of Augusta National Golf Clubwhen in the middle of the second round of the tournament The Masters a couple of pine trees fell in the middle of the field, which caused the suspension of the event.
Several players were on the 16th green when two pine trees of about 12 meters collapsedthe assistants immediately ran looking for shelter and although several chairs and tables were crushed by the trees, the collapse did not leave any injuries.
“The safety and well-being of everyone who attends the tournament will always be the club’s top priority.which will continue to closely monitor the weather today and during the tournament,” read part of the statement issued by the organization of the event.
“I was talking with friends next to me and suddenly we heard a rustle and there were three trees on the other side of the pond, suddenly we saw them fall. They were all scattering like ants”, commented Katie Waites one of the attendees of the tournament for ESPN.
