The writer and journalist Josep Maria Espinàs, author of an extensive work that includes a novel, an essay, a travel chronicle, articles or memoirshas died at the age of 95, sources close to the family have informed Efe.

As a journalist, he collaborated with media such as the newspaper Avui and the Newspaperand hosted talk shows on TV3 and the Caend 33.
Espinàs was also one of the founders in the 60s of the last century of “Els Setze Jutges”the group that started the Nova Cançó movement, and popularized the songs of Georges Brassens in Catalonia.
He was also the author of the Lyrics of the Barcelona Football Club Anthemtogether with Jaume Picas.
Reactions to death
The Camp Nou has kept a minute of silence for the death this same Sunday of the writer. It was just around 9:00 p.m., just before the start of the League FC Barcelona-Sevillewhile the ‘Cant dels ocells’ sounded, after which the stadium applauded in his memory.
On the other hand, the former president of the Generalitat Carles Puigdemont has defined this Sunday the recently deceased writer Josep Maria Espinàs as “a complete author, who opened paths”. In addition to this, the president of the Generalitat, Pere Aragonès, who has defined the journalist as one of the greats of Catalan literature and “of those people who are always around”.
