Brazilian Antony dos Santos continues to live with the consequences of his alleged series of attacks that began with the one reported by his ex-girlfriend Gabriela Cavallin. After being accused by two other women, Manchester United announced this Sunday that the footballer is not going to join the English team’s discipline for the moment.
After the complaint filed by Cavallim against the Brazilian for domestic violence, the Premier League team indicated in a statement that it “recognizes the existing accusations against the South American footballer.”
“Players who have not played international matches must return to training this Monday. However, the institution reached an agreement with Antony to delay his return until further notice in order to address these accusations,” Manchester United noted in the short statement.
“As a club, we condemn all acts of violence and abuse. “We understand the importance of preserving all those involved in this situation and recognize the impact that these accusations can have on survivors of abuse,” the statement concludes.
Although the forward has fervently defended his innocence, Manchester United took action and announced that Antony will be removed from the team until further notice, a situation that the footballer himself understood and accepted in a statement.
“I have agreed with United to take a period of leave while I address the allegations made against me. This was a mutual decision. I want to reiterate my innocence of the things they have accused me of, I will fully cooperate with the police,” the player said on his social networks.
