Last Saturday an 83-year-old man was stabbed to death at NYCHA’s Wyckoff Gardens residential complex on Nevins St. near Baltic St. in Boerum Hill. The New York Police Department (NYPD) found the man dead inside an elevator.
This Monday the authorities reported that Ramón “Flaco” Cintrón, 83, was returning from an overnight stay in the hospital due to his pacemaker, when he was cornered by Joevani Vale, 26 who is the suspect in the murder of the octogenarian in Brooklyn.
According to relatives, Cintrón still had a zest for life and never let illness or injury get him down. “He would have lived at least a few more years (…) He has survived five heart attacks and at least two robberies (…) “He survived everythingsaid his nephew, Ángel Cintrón Jr.
The NYPD reported Sunday that the victim was stabbed multiple times in the neck and right arm, prompting EMS authorities to declare her dead at the scene. Cintrón lived in New York City for most of his life, working as a delivery boy at a nearby pharmacy until he was 70 years old.
For their part, police believe Joevani Valde is also a suspect in the stabbing of a woman in Boerum Hill on Saturday afternoon, an hour earlier, two and a half blocks from the death of the 83-year-old man. The NYPD estimates that the suspect carried out the first attack at 12 midnight at Pacific St. and Third Ave on a 47-year-old woman.
On top of that, the NYPD believes the suspect also attacked a 31-year-old woman in the right thigh on Nevins St. by Dean St. Medics took the victim to Methodist Hospital where she is in stable condition.. Records show Joevani Vale has three arrests on his record for a September 2020 assault bust, a February 2016 arrest for forcible contact and a September 2015 arrest for public lewdness.
The New York Police Department (NYPD) is asking anyone with information on Vale’s whereabouts to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS.
