Rafael Nadal will face German Alexander Zverev, recent champion in Rome, in the first round of Roland Garros. The French great made the draw for the main draws this Thursday and the champion of 22 majors had a tough initial encounter, against a player in top form and who will also land with the magnificent inertia adopted at the Foro Italico, where he only gave up one set in six games. The Spaniard, who will turn 38 on June 3, knew in advance that he would have to face a highly demanding opponent from the start, given that he is not seeded. On the other hand, Carlos Alcaraz, number four in the world, will have a kinder debut against an opponent from the qualifying phase, yet to be defined.

In the women’s draw, the first Spanish representative, Sara Sorribes (46th), will face the Romanian Bianca Andreescu (234th) in the initial round, while Cristina Bucsa (72nd) will initially face a rival from the previous phase, like Jessica Bouzas, who has entered the final draw of the Parisian great for the first time; Rebeka Masarova (94th) will face a tough match with Marketa Vondrousova (6th), finalist in 2019, and Paula Badosa (140th) will meet the British Katie Boulter (28th). The Catalan will try to maintain the good tone recently offered in Rome, although the third round would already hold a potential duel with the number two, the Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka.
