Roberto Brasero (Talavera de la Reina, 53 years old) enters the central make-up room at the Atresmedia headquarters. At that time, like almost any other, there is a hustle and bustle, people crossing from one side to the other in search of the facial and hair miracle of the day, knowing that you never leave there worse off than when you arrived.
Brasero is one of those people who makes himself noticed upon his arrival, he gives a vigorous good morning, greets the staff, makes a joke and there is always someone who receives it and responds. He is one of those people who seems to have never slept too few hours, one of those who seems to have life smiling on him 24/7. Brasero is one of those people who terrify those who need two hours from the moment they wake up to empathize with humanity. “Good morning!” he says in a very loud and hypervitaminized voice every time he enters that room, and one senses that he will enter the rest of the rooms he entered, enters and will enter throughout his life.
The weatherman from Antena 3 is used to being asked what the weather will be like on the day of the child’s first communion, on the Saturday chosen to dye his hair, book a campsite or the next long weekend, but he doesn’t seem to be fed up. He is friendly, talkative, and has his own style when it comes to explaining things about the weather. Long before someone makes a joke, he is already ready to make one. This is how he started his intervention at the Comedy Club a few years ago: “Good evening, you can’t imagine how difficult it is to be Roberto Brasero, weatherman. To be announced in the middle of August saying: “And now the weather with Brasero.” With two balls, take climate change!” The audience in the theatre was already laughing after the first sentence.
The Talavera native began his professional career as an intern at the same company he now works for, went to Telemadrid and returned to Antena 3 to become one of the stars of television. He is a guy who raps to explain Filomena —“what if I give the forecast in rap?” he thought, and did it—, or imitates Carlos Baute because once you get going, you know what you’re doing. He has fun with Trancas and Barrancas, when Carlos Latre appears on stage dressed like him, who gets serious when he plays but who always, or almost always, exudes a good nature.
“He is just like you see him on TV. He talks non-stop, with everyone. He is so funny… and super dedicated,” says a colleague who deals with him inside and outside the San Sebastián de los Reyes facilities, where Atresmedia’s headquarters are located.
He has won the Antena de Oro, the special prize of the AEMET and is a favourite son of Castilla La Mancha. “You suggest a holiday in the Caribbean and I say: but I have been happy in Tomelloso!” he told Mara Torres about the time he played Gatopardo on the programme The lighthousefrom Cadena Ser.
The person in charge of Meteorology at A3 Noticias was born in a Civil Guard barracks because of his father’s profession, a time in his life that he remembers fondly. So much so that he couldn’t help but let his guard down and showed his true colors in the surprise that Susanna Griso dedicated to him at the Public mirror March 19, when he had to remember himself, the youngest of four siblings, and his father, who died at the age of 91 in November 2021. “I had a happy childhood and a great father. I remember him every day, he was a fantastic father and a great grandfather. Lucky,” he told the presenter.
Brasero loves them The black wolvesa musical group from his native Talavera, lived in a student residence on Príncipe de Vergara street in Madrid and before he explained to us what the hell the word cyclogenesis and the cold drop mean, he worked as a census agent. “Good weather is the weather in its time,” he repeats whenever he can.
But not everyone sees him as “the most likeable man of all the awards”, the one with “accurate predictions” and the one with “a dazzling personality”. Or maybe they do, but they also see some of his rough edges. “He is absolutely unpredictable, and although he insists on showing the image of the ideal man, he is not like that. He has a bad temper, without realizing it or without anything concrete happening he shows bad manners and shouts at people, because it depends on the time you catch him,” says a person who has worked at Atresmedia for years.
Parties
Others speak of his distraction at work, of his alternating jokes with generosity, of the failure of his program Brazier World —the network removed him without warning after low audience ratings— has hurt him more than he shows, as he is always the one who closes the parties organised by the group he works for. “He is a reference for all of us, he always endures more than the rest,” jokes another of his colleagues.
This dedication also translates into fervour towards his work. “He never says no to anything, he is everywhere. I don’t know if he has it by contract or it is simply that he is like that, but there is nothing that organizes the house in which he does not participate, and I value that a lot. He is a star, let us not forget, and others do not do that,” says another of the stars of the group who prefers not to give his name, one of those who prefer to retire early at home. Just when Brasero’s good time begins. The one who never seems to run out of batteries.
