The South American Football Confederation (Conmebol) has defined the groups for the Copa América 2024. This edition of the tournament will be held in the United States in the summer of next year and will feature the participation of six invited teams from the Confederation of North America, Central America and the Caribe de Fútbol (Concacaf), so two more teams have yet to be confirmed.

In total, 16 American countries will face each other in the soccer competition. In the draw, Argentina, Peru and Chile were assigned to Group A; The other rival could be Canada or Trinidad and Tobago, waiting for the matches to be played in March 2024. Group B is made up of Mexico, Ecuador, Venezuela, with Honduras and Costa Rica fighting to earn a place in the cup . Group C includes the teams of the United States, Uruguay, Panama and Bolivia. Brazil, Colombia, Paraguay and Jamaica compete in Group D.

The previous edition of the Copa América was held in Brazil in 2021, with Argentina and the home team competing in the final. Finally, the Albiceleste team was champion. Conmebol’s original plan was for the next edition of the sporting event to be in 2023 in Ecuador, but a change was made to the calendar to coincide with the dates of the South American tournament with the Euro Cup, so it was finally decided to delay it one year and move it to the United States. The matches are distributed in 14 different venues.

The outlook for El Tri facing the Copa América is complicated. Under the direction of Jaime Lozano, his last games have been difficult, and his move to international competition was decided at the last minute, with penalties. The Mexican team’s last appearance in the tournament was in 2016, when they suffered an abysmal defeat against Chile (7-0).
