The 2023 Major League Baseball season is nearing completion and the New York Yankees performed well below expectationsbeing one of the worst campaigns that the Big Apple team has recorded in its 120-year history.
Given this situation, it seems almost inevitable that the leadership of the team has a culprit, and the head that seems to roll will be that of manager Aaron Boone. Recently team owner Hal Steinbrenner commented that by the end of the season a thorough review of each element in the club will be made.
So the continuity of Boone, who took over the helm of the team in 2018, is very complicated and some sources from the New York team are already showing the name of the possible replacement for the coming season.
The name that sounds is that of Craig Counsellthe manager of the Milwaukee Brewers, who has a contract with the Wisconsin franchise until the end of the season after signing with the club in 2020 and this season he is on his way to qualifying for his third postseason.

“If Counsell is willing to leave the Brewers, it’s almost certain that the opposing teams would come to terms.. The most obvious destination for Counsell might be the Mets. Other teams, however, seem to be interested in him and possibly willing to fire their current managers to get him, “advanced journalist Ken Rosenthal for The Athletic.
Counsell is the longest-serving manager in the National League (9 seasons)the third-longest player in the majors behind Cleveland’s Terry Francona and Tampa Bay’s Kevin Cash, and the winningest in Brewers history (692 to 616 losses).
On the other hand, the Yankees, who had the second highest payroll in the league this year, will try to make an important change in their structure to try to win a World Series again, which they have not achieved for 14 years.
For now the current season has just over 20 games left to finish. And once that happens, the Yankees board will evaluate the situation and possibly have a new coach in charge of the team for the 2024 season.
