The Ivrea Prosecutor’s Office opened an investigation into the pilot of the Italian Air Force plane who lost control while heading to a military acrobatic exhibition and crashed into the ground, killing a 5-year-old girl who was traveling with her family in a vehicle.
The investigations against the captain of the aircraft occur after it was proven that he sent a message to the team leader in which warned that he had lost control of the aircraft and could not see due to the presence of birds, reported EFE.
The accident reopened the debate about how dangerous the Frecce Tricolori patrol is, emblematic for drawing the Italian flag in the sky during national events and holidays in the country.
The news agency indicated that it was created in 1961 and that since then it has been involved in numerous accidents. One of them was in 1988, when during exercises in Germany it killed more than 60 countries.
The hypothesis about the accident is that the flock of birds interrupted the pilot’s trajectory after it took off from Caselle airport in Turin. It was heading with the other planes to participate in a show for the centenary of the Italian air forces.
The plane fell near the town of San Francesco al Campo and hit the vehicle in which the family was traveling: the girl, her 9-year-old brother and her parents, who They managed to get out and take the eldest son to a safe place, but when they returned for the little girl they couldn’t get her out.
The girl, identified in local media as Laura Origliasso, couldn’t unbuckle his belt and the car caught fire.
According to the Italian media National Dailythe child was transferred to the Regina Margherita Hospital, with burns all over his body and in a delicate state of health.
The mother has burns on 14% of her body and is recovering at a CTO Medicine center; while the father, who has injuries to his hand, is in San Giovanni Bosco, where the pilot had also been hospitalized.
