After the fatal shooting that occurred this Monday that left 4 dead and 9 injured in a bank in Louisville, Kentucky, the police identified the suspect Connor Sturgeon, as the alleged perpetrator.who was killed by the authorities that responded to the attack.
According to statements by the acting chief of Louisville, Jacquelyn Gwinn-Villaroel, the 23-year-old subject worked at the Old National Bank, on East Main Street, where the event occurred in the morning hours.
According to the acting chief at the press conference held at 3:00 pm local time, Sturgeon was live streaming the tragic attackreported Fox News.
The first reports of gunshots came in at 8:38 a.m., and following the police response, Sturgeon began shooting at them, Gwinn-Villaroel added.
“Then we returned fire and stopped that threat,” said the acting chief. “The suspect is deceased. This is the only time I will mention the name of the suspect in this case.: Connor Sturgeon, white male, 23 years old, who worked at Old National Bank”.
The acting chief said Sturgeon used a rifle during the attack, although it was not clear if he had purchased it himself, noting that she was not aware of any prior contact between police and the shooter.
“It’s clear from the officers’ response that they absolutely saved people’s lives,” highlighted for his part, the deputy chief of the Louisville police, Paul Humphrey, in a previous press conference.
Sturgeon’s LinkedIn profile notes that Sturgeon worked at the bank for about two years, working as a union associate and a homegrown banker. He also claimed to have a master’s degree from the University of Alabama.
The shooting left at least one officer seriously injured, Officer Nickolas Wilt said.who was recently sworn in, while another officer suffered minor injuries.
In all, four people were killed, not including Sturgeon, while nine were injured, according to authorities reports.
In a press conference along with city leaders, Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear admitted to having a “personal connection” to the attack.
“I have a very close friend who didn’t make it today. And I have another close friend who doesn’t either. And one who is in the hospital and I hope he gets over it, ”said the Democratic governor.
While the investigation is ongoing, police have asked anyone with information about the attack call his personal line at 502-574-LMPD.
