Separate of Marilo Montero (58) since 2011, Carlos Herrera (66) rebuilt his love life next to Pepa Gea (53), whom she married in New York in a surprise wedding held in December 2022. The Onda Cero journalist is her greatest support and fully trusts in her husband’s new challenge: that of winning the presidency of the Royal Spanish Federation of Football after the scandalous departure of Luis Rubiales as a leader. This Thursday, the speaker has confirmed that he is running for election.

“I have thought about it a lot, I confess. I have asked myself many times whether or not it was worth it. The truth is, I have to confess with my heart in my hand that I believe it is.”he assured during the broadcast of his program, Herrera in Cope. “I’m going to show up to clean up, to regenerate, so that the future of Spanish football is in the news for its successes and not for the shenanigans”the presenter has promised on the airwaves.

The announcement of the candidacy occurred just one day after the current president of the Management Commission, Pedro Rocha, announced the date for the elections (May 6), as well as his resignation from office, necessary to activate the electoral process. Until then, Rafael del Amopresident of the territorial federation of Navarra and the National Women’s Football Committee, will lead it.

The call for elections will be official this Friday, April 5, and on the 7th, a period of five calendar days will open for the presentation of candidacies. Each of the candidates must have a minimum of 21 endorsements from the members of the General Assembly.

Carlos Herrera and Pepa Gea

They both share their passion for radio and journalism. Pepa, who went through Cope and Ser, is the director and presenter of the program More than One Madrid of Onda Cero. She has been working at this network for almost three decades and it is at this station where she met her now husband, at the time when he also worked there (2001-2015).

In her professional profile, she defines herself as a woman “passionate about communication and social networks, whether through the airwaves, writing or images.” In addition to being a journalist, she is a university expert in Nutrition and Dietetics, and a great defender of healthy living. Pepa, very reserved with her private life like her husband, resides in Madrid and has two daughters from a previous relationship. Herrera, for his part, is the father of Alberto Herrera and Rocío Crusset, his two children with Mariló Montero.

The two got married on December 5 in New York: “I gladly share this snapshot with you. Thank you for your affection and interest,” the journalist wrote days later, along with a photo of the wedding (image below). The wedding was celebrated in a very discreet way, with the presence of their children and without it first being revealed to the media.

After their return to Spain, they organized a New Year’s Eve party at their home in El Rocío, in Huelva, and took advantage of the occasion to toast with their closest family and friends.
