While a second season of the hit HBO series ‘The Last of Us’ is being prepared, its protagonist, Peter Pascalseems to have found the project that will film during the hiatus.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Deadline and Variety, the Chilean actor is in the last negotiations to join the sequel to ‘Gladiator‘.
The new project is a follow-up to the 2001 Best Picture Oscar winner that followed Maximus Decimus Meridius (Russell Crowe), a former general who is sold into slavery and forced to fight as a gladiator under the rule of Commodus (Joaquin Phoenix). , a parricide self-proclaimed emperor of Rome.
They will join the sequel Paul Mescalwho will play Lucius, as well as barry keoghan, joseph quinn, Connie Nielsen and Denzel Washington. Ridley Scott will return to direct.
According to information previously revealed, the new story of the sequel will focus on Lucius (Mescal), the son of Lucilla, played by Nielsen, and the nephew of Commodus, from Phoenix. Djimon Hounsou is expected to return as Juba, a fellow gladiator and former ally of Maximus.
David Scarpa, who worked with Scott on All the Money in the World, is writing the script.
At the time of the premiere, ‘Gladiator’ grossed $460 million at the box office and earned eleven Oscar nominationswinning five statuettes, including best picture and best actor for Crowe.
