Spaniard Oier Lazkano, who has spent three seasons with Movistar, has signed for Red Bull Bora Hansgrohe, the German team confirmed in a statement. Lazkano, born in Vitoria 24 years ago, Spanish road champion in 2023 and runner-up in the time trial that same year, has victories in the Vuelta a Portugal, the Tour de Wallonia, the Vuelta a Burgos and the Clásica Jaén Paraíso Interior, as well as a podium in the Kuurne.
The Vitorian rider, who will start with his new team in 2025, acknowledged his excitement about this change, which he considers “a big step” in his career. “I am very grateful to the team for the trust they have placed in me. Working with the biggest names in the sport is an incredible opportunity,” he said.
Former cyclist and Bora boss Ralph Denk said: “Oier is still young, but he has already made a name for himself with his raw power. His style stands out in modern cycling: attacking instinctively and pushing forward with force. “At times he seems old school, but he is successful and inspires me. We can use this power well in the classics and with Oier we now have even more options for stage races.”
