Next Saturday February 11the Fibes palace in Seville will dress up to receive the best of the film harvest of the year in Spain. The Goyas 2023 return to Sevilleafter what last 2022 it was held in Valencia, on the occasion of the anniversary of the filmmaker Luís García Berlanga. The gala will be broadcast as always by Spanish Television and the various RTVE platforms and these are the main details that we know about the event:
The cinema: The great protagonist
Films are always the main protagonists in these appointments, but this edition more than ever, the authorial level of the Goyas 2023 far exceeds any estimate we could have made in the middle of last year. Presented by actors
After the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for years opted for comedians like Dani Rovira, Andreu Buenafuente, Manel Fuentes or Joaquín Reyes and Ernesto Sevillathis year two much-loved actors will be in charge of leading the gala: Antonio de la Torre and Clara Lago.
The man from Malaga has 11 Goya nominations and “two big heads” to his credit. Lago has always been a magnet for the box office and the success of television fiction. Eight Basque surnames and Eight Catalan surnamesin which he co-stars with Rovira, are two of the highest-grossing national films in history.
Varied music for the Spanish film festival
As it’s usual, the 37th edition of the Goya will feature live performances. On this occasion they will be Pablo López, the flamenco singer Israel Fernández and the Mexican singer Natalia Lafourcade.
Unlike other years, none defend a candidacy in the category of best song, which they opt for Rozalen and Eduardo Cruz (in the margins), Aránzazu Calleja, Maite Arroitajauregi and Paul Urkijo Alijo (Irati), Joaquin Sabina y Leiva (Feeling it a lot), Paloma Peñarrubia, Vanesa Benitez (Chipen’s life) and Joseba Beristain (unicorn wars).
