If your town doesn’t yet have an alternative music festival, don’t despair, the festival councilor is working on it. Surely next summer will come. Because you can’t tell me that some of the towns that host one of the festivals that we recommend below are world-class tourist centers. But It doesn’t have to be Madrid or Barcelona If you have enthusiasm for music and the ability to monetize an alternative cultural proposal, take note.

Observatory Festival (June 28-29 in Balboa)

Festival Observatory

We begin our festival route in El Bierzo where a festival is held that boasts sustainability and privileged environment. And the town of Balboa is not like the Marconi industrial estate. The Observatorio Festival now reaches its sixth edition with the presence of El Buen Hijo, Tomasa del Real, Merina Gris, Tamarindo, or Ego-Trip: mostly new generation bands and artists that aspire to attract an audience less fond of the selfies.

Alterna Festival (July 5 to 6 in El Bonillo)

Next stop: Albacete. That a summer festival cannot be organized in Campo de Montiel? Grab my dick! Of course you can because these guys have been fighting in El Bonillo for 15 years. Narco, Def Con Dos or Zoo will be some of the bands that can be seen at this festival that promises, of course, camping in the shade.

Vida Festival (from July 4 to 6 in Vilanova i La Geltrú)

It’s time to put on the shirt with impossible prints that only comes out of the closet to festival and go to one of the most special events of the Catalan summer. Once again nature and music are combined in a unique way at Vida Festival where we can see Ride, James Blake, Black Lips, The Planets or The Killer Swing in one of his last concerts.

Rock Land Art Fest (July 19 to 21 in Santo Domingo de la Calzada)

It’s time to visit this town associated with Santiago’s road to enjoy rock music again in a weekend that features important names on the scene, from the very veteran Scorpions to the Basque rock references Soziedad Alkoholika, passing through Drogas or the promising Liverpool Crawlers that we can see at the Mad Cool Madrid. Ah! and you can also listen to the The Final Countdown from the hand of Europe. They keep touching it, right?

Atlantic Fest (July 19 to 21 in Vilagarcía de Arousa)

If you are looking for a seaside environment but Benicàssim no longer convinces you at this point, you can stop by Vilagarcía de Arousa and enjoy its Concha Beach to see one of the best posters indies that will pass through Galician lands this summer: Mika, Sidonie, Los Planetas, Cariño or Alcalá Norte, among others.

Tsunami Xixón Festival (July 19 to 21 in Gijón)

What a weekend of July 19, festivals everywhere! But if punk is your thing, you will have no doubt: come to Gijón to enjoy again Bad Religion who will be the main figure of the poster along with Yungblud, Royal Blood, Descendents or The Last Internationale. As the festival closes, the legendary German hard rock band Scorpions will remember their anthems celebrating their 50 years on the road.

Brizna Festival (August 2 to 4 in Ayerbe)

It is the turn of the Hoya de Huesca where we will visit the town of Ayerbe, just under 30 kilometres from the capital. And the Brizna aspires to be more than just a traditional festivalto take a series of groups on stage and until the following summer: tourist routes through Ayerbe, an excursion to Loarre or a tour of local gastronomy are some of the complementary plans to the performance of Cupido, Cala Vento, Cariño or Burning .

Gigante Festival (from August 29 to 31 in Guadalajara)

The Gigante has been in Guadalajara for ten years now, one of those festivals that has managed to consolidate itself despite the fierce competition that we have experienced in recent times. Dorian, Xoel López, Asshole Heat o Niños Mutantes will be the national figures who will give lustre to this festival that is celebrated in the Fuente de la Niña Stadium.

Rock in Pino (August 16 in Pinofranqueado)

Doesn't seem like a bad place for a festival.
Doesn’t seem like a bad place for a festival.

Do you want an alternative festival, but a real alternative one? Well come to The Hurdes on August 16 and you will see. A festival that is not sponsored by Heineken or Jaggermeister, but by Carpintería Vegas, Muebles Mario and Electricista Kino. That is to say, a festival like the ones before, one of those that do not belong to an investment fund like a few that I know of.

El Último Ke Zierre, Kaos Urbano, Los Jacobos and Massive Attack are four of the Rock in Pino bands. No, wait, Massive Attack have canceled their concert at Rock in Pino at the last minute. They are replaced by Radiocrime.
