The Pumas de la UNAM are experiencing one of the most difficult moments of their last seasons in the Clausura 2023 tournament of the Liga MX; They are currently outside the playoff zone and have one of the worst defenses in the tournament, which is why many players have expressed their sadness at this situation.

One of these is the captain of the Auriazules, Nicolás Freire, who lamented the bad moment the team is going through during a press conference and explained that he has sometimes felt “ashamed” with the fans for the negative results they have achieved.

To me, he talked about the personal, it hurts a lot. I try to put the best wave on it because we have to get up. We come from sticks, from sticks and we have to keep fighting. I, Nico Freire, hurt a lot and there are moments where I am ashamed and I emphasize some games where you give virtue to the striker, “he said.

It hurts, but it’s no use thinking about it and there are four games left. We must defend tooth and nail and make the forwards feel comfortable. Adding the work that the ‘Turk’ is that we all attack and we all defend and we have the same responsibility, ”he added.

Finally, Nicolás Freire stressed that throughout his career he has experienced similar problems, which is why they are doing everything possible from the bench to overcome this negative streak and thus be able to bring joy to the fans.

I can tell you about my experience. I have not had to live there every year in the teams that I have been constantly fighting in tournaments. I have had to go downhill, ascend and be a benchmark. I have had a lot of bumps and I have put my chest into it and got ahead. It is something that characterizes us in the group that we have, that each one overcame an adversity and it is one more that we have. We aspire to great things and more than anything for the team, the kind of people and professionals. Everyone has a story to tell and there is some resilience and this is one more story, cross it out and move on ”, he concluded.
