New York City FC returned home after two games but could not avoid having a complicated game in which they did not manage to get past the 1-1 draw against Atlanta United and extended his streak of games without winning to three, this despite having made important additions in recent weeks.
True to what most NYCFC games have been like this season, Much of the game was played in the middle of the field but with certain dangerous occasions generated by both teams, but which failed to end in a goal. Many of these due to inaccuracies in the shots.
The first emotions came in the second half when, At minute 70, Atlanta United opened the scoring with a goal from Greek Georgios Giakoumakiswho was assisted by a cross from the corner of the team’s most outstanding player so far this season, the Argentine Thiago Almada.
But the New York team did not give up and quickly gave a coup of authority as a local, matching the actions at minute 72, with a goal from Brazilian striker Gabriel Pereira, who had entered shortly before. The goal pass was from the young Slovenian Mitja Ilenic.
After generating this important reaction on the scoreboard, City failed to seize the moment to go for the victory and the game slowed down again with the ball moving mainly in the midfield, but without creating imminent danger.
With this result, New York City is ranked seventh in the Eastern Conference with nine points, while Atlanta United is in third place with 14 units, both clubs with seven games.
