The fury for the arrival of Lionel Messi in the United States does not stop and this is demonstrated with Ticket prices for this Sunday’s match between Inter Miami and Los Angeles FC (LAFC) are the most expensive in history for a Major League Soccer (MLS) match.
As revealed by the specialized page TickPickaverage prices are around $690, 527% more than the average ticket price for an MLS game, which used to cost $110 before soccer superstar Leo Messi joined the league.
With one day left, the cheapest ticket to see Messi face last year’s MLS Cup champions is priced at $785. Without Messi, prices drop sharply, and the cheapest ticket to the next LAFC game is 80% less expensive, at $151 a seat.
Notably, Los Angeles FC is one of the most popular MLS teams in the league, so demand is always high, said TickPick co-CEO Brett Goldberg, adding that “in this case you have one of the greatest athletes in the world coming to town.”
And revealed: “The market is likely to stabilize prices at their current level, although there is a possibility of an upward shift in price due to increased demand”.
Messi’s appearances have regularly skyrocketed ticket prices since he arrived in MLS. For last week’s game, in which Messi made his regular season debut, prices were nearly 1,000% higher than usual for a New York Red Bulls ticket.

The messimania also extends beyond the pitch. Apple said subscriptions to its soccer streaming package have skyrocketed since Messi joined in July. And Adidas said demand for Messi’s shirt has been “truly unprecedented”causing a backlog of orders until October.
What happens when Messi doesn’t play?
The difference when Messi is not on the field is abysmal, prices drop drastically. For example, the cheapest ticket to the next LAFC game is $151 per seat, which is 80% cheaper, according to TickPick.
The CBS television network reported that the company Sixt, dedicated to the reservation of rental vehicles, conducted an investigation in which it found on Stubhubofficial resale site, some tickets for less than $200 dollars to witness Inter Miami games.
According to prices on StubHub, the cheapest ticket to see Messi with Inter Miami on September 16 at Mercedes Benz Stadium sold for $153.
