Carlos Alcaraz will not compete in the Monte Carlo Masters 1000, which takes place this week, due to an injury to “the pronator teres of his right arm.” This is what the Spanish tennis player specifies in the message spread this Tuesday through his social networks. In theory, the Murcian was going to make his debut on Wednesday against the Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime, but, despite the attempt to recover in time, he will not be able to participate in the first dirt event of the season.
Alcaraz, number three in the world, recently completed a demanding tour to the other side of the Atlantic. He first competed in Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro, and later walked in Indian Wells and Miami. The young man from El Palmar (20 years old) was proclaimed champion in California. Now, he is once again resisting Monte Carlo, where last year he was unable to compete due to post-traumatic arthritis in his left hand and muscular discomfort in his spine. The only time he entered the main draw, in 2022, he lost in the first match against the American Sebastian Korda.
