A man has been charged with allegedly using a frozen fish as a weapon during an altercation at a local Michigan fish store.the authorities reported.
The Warren Police Department reported that on April 2, at approximately 7:15 p.m., at the Desi Fruit Market in Warren, the suspect, Jobul Hussain60, got mad at a store clerk after being told the fish counter closed at 7pm due to Ramadan, according to a statement obtained by Fox News.
After arguing with an employee about the store’s “special Ramadan hours,” Hussain allegedly took a four-pound frozen fish and began beating the employee. on the head with the herring, picked up the middle.
“Then, the suspect allegedly assaulted the employee over the head with a four-pound frozen hilsa fishMacomb County Attorney Peter Lucido said in a news release.
“The hilsa fish is a kind of herring,” he added; the employee had to be taken to the hospital after the incident.
Jobul Hussain was arrested on misdemeanor aggravated assault and according to authorities, he was arraigned last Monday in the Warren 37th District Court on a charge of aggravated assault.
A judge set Hussain’s bail at $5,000 and scheduled his next court date for April 27. Court records say he posted bail and was released.
