Mexican Sergio ‘Checo’ Pérez showed his dissatisfaction with his performance and that of his team at the Singapore Grand Prix. The Red Bull driver finished eighth in a race that he described as “a total disaster.”
Added to his poor classification on Saturday’s pole, where he managed to finish in thirteenth place at the start, the Mexican considered that they had “no luck at all” in the Marina Bay street circuit race, where the Spanish Carlos Sainz (Ferrari) He took first place ahead of the British Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) and Lando Norris (McLaren).
“It was a total disaster. We didn’t have any luck today (…) A complicated race from start to finish and risking too much to pass the other cars. It started to get clogged and when I was on the hard tire it took us one or two laps to stop when we had traffic behind us and we lost many seconds,” said the Mexican driver in statements to ESPN.
“We did the most we could (…) I hope (to improve in Japan), we have everything to return and be strong in Suzuka,” said “Checo” Pérez.
The Formula 1 World Championship will continue in Asia with two upcoming Grands Prix in Japan and Qatar, before moving to America. Although there are seven races left until the end of the season, everything indicates that Max Verstappen will be champion much sooner.
