The technical director of the Uruguayan team, Marcelo Bielsa, assured this weekend that he has maintained important contacts with the historic strikers Luis Suárez and Edinson Cavani so that they are part of the Uruguayan call to face the first matches corresponding to the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against the national teams of Chile and Ecuador.
According to the EFE agency, the Argentine coach stated that he will deliver the final list of players this Monday and assured that Suárez and Cavani are among the main candidates to boost the team’s offense with the aim of adding the first two victories for the world championship that will take place in the United States, Mexico and Canada.
These statements were made by Bielsa during a press conference held at the Estadio Centenario in Montevideo, where the team intends to carry out training sessions prior to the double round of playoffs.
