The 2022 San Diego Comic-Con International Convention (Comic-Con) was the space where it was announced that Disney+ will bring back Daredevil – 98% in 2024, after the series “The Man Without Fear”, released in 2015, was canceled just three years after its release on Netflix. The new production will also star Charlie Cox. Since this information was released, expectations have only grown among the fan community. In addition, this decision is considered one of the best successes of the Disney streaming platform.

The title of the series, Born Again, refers to a narrative arc of the comics published in 1986. Which were written by Frank Miller and illustrated by David Mazzucchelli. According to the magazine Espinofthe history:
It begins with a Karen Page resigned to acting in pornographic films in Mexico and addicted to drugs who, desperate, sells information in exchange for a little heroin. Specifically, the identity of Daredevil, which reaches the ears of Wilson Fisk (…) Kingpin will then begin an insidious campaign to destroy his rival without touching him: with his influence he makes the treasury freeze his bank accounts, makes a police give false testimony against the lawyer, etc. Soon we would meet a homeless, paranoid and mentally unstable Matt Murdock.

However, the adaptation may or may not start from the premise of the comics, since audiovisual productions are not always faithful to the originals. Although this could lower the expectations of the character’s fans a bit, both the protagonist and Marc Jobst, the director and producer, have insinuated at different times that the eighteen tentative chapters of the production will be of high quality and will make viewers very happy. . In December 2022, Charlie Cox commented to GQ Magazine:
I think that since so many episodes have been agreed, there will be a great influence of legal issues (…) I am focused on finding information on that area of the character and his life. It was one of the areas that we didn’t explore much before. Even my accent is probably rusty.

For his part, Jobst commented in recent days to The Hollywood Reporter:
I can’t imagine Charlie, Vince and Jon signing up for something that they felt bland. They just wouldn’t. So, one way or another, Disney must have persuaded them to say: this is a journey worth taking.
Likewise, he expressed that, to work with adaptations of Marvel superheroes, a fundamental requirement is to dimension them in such a way that they are credible.
If you base, dimension, give a human fragility (and I don’t mean weakness) to the Marvel characters, they will be credible to the public. If you just have them flying up into the sky without any kind of human feeling, then it looks a bit like PG-13 or whatever.
The Zimbabwean-born director and executive producer has risen from production to production to become one of Netflix’s most prolific creators. His work, in addition to Daredevil- 93%, includes series like Luke Cage –
96%, The Witcher – 67%, and the recent streaming success: One Piece –
90% His trajectory was, until now, somewhat silent but effective in its own way. Therefore, a great return of Matt Murdock is expected, due to the great commitment that Jobst shows in each of his stories.
In many ways, I started telling stories because I believe that stories teach us to be human. If you take a character and put an obstacle in their path, then you want to see how that character overcomes that obstacle, so that you can learn from that character and apply that lesson to your own life.
