Last August when the European leagues had not yet started, David Beckham was seen with Luka Modric in Sipan, a small island in Croatia. This meeting sparked rumors about a possible signing of the midfielder by Inter Miami.
However, the 37-year-old recently had an interview with the Croatian newspaper Sportske Novosti and took the opportunity to clarify any type of rumors of a possible transfer.
“We met Beckham and his family by chance. He spent part of his vacation in Croatia for the second consecutive year and you can tell that he likes him a lot, ”the Real Madrid midfielder began by commenting.
“I went with my family to a restaurant where he also visited his family and in reality we only talked about the holidays and about Croatia,” Modric highlighted. After various media associated this meeting between the two as a possible signing of Luka by Inter Miami, of which Beckham is co-owner.
Modric also highlighted the good time he had with the Beckham family, where far from talking about football or contracts; only topics about vacations and about sailing in the Croatian sea were touched on.
“We talked about the pleasure of sailing the Adriatic, the islands, the food and our people. Beckham is a great gentleman and a very pleasant conversationalist.like his wife and children”, highlighted the runner-up in the world with Croatia in 2018.
Modric is currently playing a secondary role in the Real Madrid squad, seeing few minutes at the start of the season due to the arrival of Jude Bellingham and the continuity that the coach wants to give to youngsters like Aurélien Tchouaméni and Eduardo Camavinga.
At 37 years old, Modric is living his tenth season with the Spanish team, with which he won 5 Champions Leagues as a figure. The Croatian’s contract with Real Madrid was renewed this summer for just one year and expires in June 2024. However, since January Luka will be able to negotiate with another team, so a possible arrival at Inter Miami would not be 100% ruled out. .
