EA Sports LaLiga continues with the fourth round of the competition, scheduled for August 31 and September 1. FC Barcelona, which leads the standings, opened the curtain on Saturday by beating Valladolid at Montjuïc (7-0). In the duel at San Mamés between Athletic Club and Atlético de Madrid, Simeone’s team won with a goal from Correa (0-1). On Sunday, in which five matches will also be played, the highlight will be the match between Real Madrid and Real Betis at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, which will close the fourth round of the league championship.

Barça will go into the first league break as leaders after beating Valladolid (7-0) on a great afternoon for Raphinha, who scored three goals. A great performance by the Catalan team, where players like Lamine Yamal and Dani Olmo shone with great intensity. Valladolid could not at any time cope with the onslaught of play that came upon them.
A goal from Correa in extra time after a pass from Sorloth following an error by the Athletic defence gave Athlético three golden points at San Mamés. The match was very open and Athletic had chances to score at least one goal. Nico Williams had a goal disallowed for offside. Fair enough, but offside. The Basques must overcome this poor start to the League.
Espanyol – Rayo Vallecano (2-1)
Espanyol came back to life a little by drawing against Atlético de Madrid at the Metropolitano and now they breathed a definitive sigh of relief with a great victory against Rayo. A goal from Véliz in the 96th minute gave them the victory when nobody expected it. Rayo, who took the lead with a goal from Álvaro García, will have to recover after two consecutive defeats in a rather complicated week for their interests.
Valencia have taken four games to show signs of life. Rubén Baraja’s team woke up at Mestalla, where else but in a stadium that is always full, and earned their first point of the season against a Villarreal that took too much as a reward. The innocence of an increasingly inexperienced black and white team allowed Villarreal to equalise the score a few seconds before the break.
Leganes – Mallorca (0-1)
Leganés suffered their first defeat of the season and Mallorca their first victory (0-1) after a duel with an inconsequential final half and an initial one where the Bermellones were rewarded for their better attitude. A goal from Dani Rodríguez with a header soured the local fans, very excited by the signing of Haller, a striker who comes from Dortmund.
Alaves – Las Palmas (2-0)
Deportivo Alavés achieved their first home win, 2-0 against UD Las Palmas, in a match in which they showed enormous physical display to suffocate the Canarian team who, despite wanting the ball, could not overcome the pressure of the Basques who have seven points in seven days. The yellows, who arrived with high morale after drawing against Real Madrid, deserved to score, but came up against a great Antonio Sivera and remain without a win this season. The Vitorian team took the lead after 8 minutes with their first chance, with a good shot from Carlos Vicente, who took advantage of a good pass from Juan Diego Molina and the inattention of the island’s defence. After the break, the home team had many chances, increasing their pressure on the ball. Toni Martínez once again demonstrated the quality he has and scored a great goal in the top corner to get his second goal of the season, both as a substitute and without hardly training with his new teammates.
Osasuna – Celta Vigo (3-2)
Osasuna suffered more than necessary to beat Celta de Vigo 3-2 on an emotional afternoon to reach the international break with a lot of joy after Thursday’s setback in Girona. The goal from debutant Enzo Boymo in the 21st minute gave wings to the home team, who were already shaken by the 4-0 defeat at Motilivi. Borja Iglesias quickly finished off a play to make it 1-1. Carlos Domínguez deflected Aimar Oroz’s shot to go into the break at a disadvantage. They went to the changing rooms and Abel Bretones made his first great run down the left side to finish with a trademark left-footed shot. The match seemed to be over, but Celta reduced the gap in the 91st minute with an own goal from Moi Gómez. Finally, the Navarrese team regained their smile to add 7 points to their bag after four games.
Girona have achieved their second consecutive victory (0-2) at the Sánchez-Pizjuán on Sunday, which allows them to climb up the table at the expense of a Sevilla side that has not won in the past four games and is already beginning to show the signs of decomposition that compromised their survival last season. A goal in each period, from Iván Martín on the verge of half-time and from Abel Ruiz from a penalty, decided a match in which the home team had the best chances but were victims of their innocence in both areas.
Getafe – Real Sociedad (0-0)
Getafe and Real Sociedad drew 0-0 in a game at the Coliseum marked by a lack of opportunities for both teams, who are at the bottom of the table. A long-range shot from Carles Pérez for Getafe and a chance from Umar Sadiq after a cross from Sergio Gómez for Real Sociedad were the only chances for either team in the first half. Afterwards, the home side showed a little more ambition, having only scored one goal in the three games they have played.
Real Madrid – Betis (2-0)
Real Madrid beat Real Betis on Sunday in a game in which the home side could not afford another slip-up after starting with five points out of a possible nine. In the first half they again had difficulties creating scoring chances and pressing quickly after losing the ball, but in the second half Mbappé made his debut in La Liga after a terrific back-heel assist from Fede Valverde. Vinicius then forced a penalty which the French striker converted to score his first double as a Real Madrid player. With this second win they are four points behind Barcelona, the league leaders after winning their first four games.
