In the family they call him the mediator and he is the only one capable of uniting all the members or at least keeping them informed. Julio José He has it by nature and that is why it is understood that when his father and his brother Enrique are in the distance he is the one who intercedes. Or if Chabeli There is also a disagreement, there is Julio José to pave the way. People skills or natural friendliness but the fact is that at 51 years old he can boast of feeling like the eternal teenager to whom life smiles and loves come and go. He has been married, in love and alone. But the latter very little time.

Today he defines himself as a happy man next to his new girlfriend, the Cuban Ariadna Romero, with whom she is “rehearsing” parenthood since she is the mother of a child who has already captivated Julio Iglesias’ son. With her he traveled to Madrid to stay at her mother’s house, Isabel Preysler, “where I will always be best,” and to present her new business project in the form of sneakers to the media.

With the photographer Jesus Lamba friend and a footwear businessman from Elche, the singer tries his luck in the world of fashion with sneakers that respond to the name ‘Suaji’ and that are one hundred percent made in Spain. “We didn’t know what name to give and in the end we opted for a very popular street in Tokyo. We wanted to launch a quality product, made in Elche, and with a high range,” says his partner, aware that the price will compete with renowned brands.

But that doesn’t scare them. Julio José, who is still the man with the whitest teeth on the red carpets, is sure that both his mother and his sisters will wear their new sneakers in the same way they put on the caps promoted by Fernando Verdasco or decorate their homes with the tiles that his mother promoted for decades. The family knows how to make pine cones and not just next to the Christmas tree. And although we are in the season of torrijas rather than nougat, this week in Preysler’s house childhood moments are relived since not only is Julio who lives in the famous residence but his sister Chábeli is also there with whom he started to record a new reality, this time for TVE, with which they will enter the homes of many celebrities. From Arantxa Sánchez Vicario to the Stephan family, passing through many other salons. In this way, Julio goes from competing with his sister Ana Boyer in Bake Off to give everything with Chábeli in a new program. If TV isn’t your thing…

Are you happy with your life?

JJI: A lot. I have been in Madrid the entire month of January recording Bake off with Ana and now I return for a house renovation program with Chábeli. I’m only missing Tamara from the sisters and I’m sure it would be a lot of fun. Then with the twins…

Have you had any problems with anyone on the show?

JJI: No. I admit that I have never had any problems with anyone. As far as I know I have no enemies in life.

That’s why they call him the unifier.

JJI: What happens is that I go about my business and I don’t fight with anyone. But it’s not something that only happens to me in the family but in life in general.

And what drives you crazy?

JJI: Well, some girlfriend from the past, but that was many years ago.

They say it didn’t end very well with his previous ex-girlfriend.

JJI: What happened is that we broke up very quickly and never had a last conversation.

Don’t tell me you blocked her on your networks.

JJI: In my life I have blocked no one. What’s more, I don’t even know how to do it.

Now he has become a “father” by surprise with the child of his current partner Ariadna.

JJI: I have never had a couple with a child and I assure you that it is a good training.

Well, at 51 years old, although he looks 30, it’s about time if he wants to consider having children.

JJI: Well, we’ll see… The age thing is impressive. I remember perfectly when the year 2000 began, 24 years ago, and it seems like it was yesterday. When I turned 50, I admit that it hit me a little bit and at 20 I thought that at 50 you were finished and look where we are here.

Do you do any touch-ups to look so youthful?

JJI: I take care of myself with my creams and I confess that I use collagen non-stop. You have to take care of yourself and even more so when you live in the world of entertainment and television facing the public, that makes you want to be decently well.

He’s lucky, because every time a relationship ends he falls in love right away. How does she do it?

JJI: My friends tell me that I am very lucky because they don’t find any girls they like.

But does he really fall in love?

JJI: Of course. I am passionate and with many feelings.

Are you one of those who believe that the last one is the definitive one?

JJI: When you start with someone you always think it’s forever. The truth is that I usually go in very hard and then over time you start to see things that maybe don’t suit you or bother you. When many are added is when you see that there is no further route. I’m lucky in that because I’m very good at forgetting and starting from scratch.

Is it more difficult for you to leave or be left?

JJI: Both situations are screwed. When you have to break up it is not pleasant and I have been through both situations.

Her mother Isabel Preysler says she is happy living her single life after a lifetime as a couple. As a son, don’t you prefer him to be with someone?

JJI: I just want him to do what he wants. And, besides, who am I to give an opinion. The important thing is that he is happy. My mother has always been in a relationship. Since she separated from my father she has never been alone. That’s how I look like her. I see her very well although I have always seen her like that.

And how is your father? It seems that Julio Iglesias lives very disconnected from the world.

JJI: He lives between Punta Cana and the Bahamas and is in his world. He goes to the beach, swims every day, and now I see him very excited about the Netflix project that he is going to personally control. I am happy to see him so involved and happy.

Are you going to participate in that series?

JJI: I suppose we will appear, even if only mentally, because our story will be told, but I am fascinated by the idea of my father telling his own story.

Is there anyone on this planet who has flirted more than Julio Iglesias?

JJI: I don’t think so. Since I was little I have seen my father as a seducer, but in a big way. I found him fascinating when he was a child and growing up seeing how girls looked at him and the things they said to me for being his son. They seem like incredible moments to me.

Did some women use you to get to your father?

JJI: It could be.

What love of your father has been most important in your life?

JJI: I have had beautiful relationships with some girlfriends, but I was very young and I have memories of going to the park and little else.

What is your relationship with your father’s wife Miranda?

JJI: A wonderful relationship because it is fabulous.

And how does he get along with his new brothers?

JJI: They are all adults now. The oldest is 25 and the youngest is 17. I get along well with everyone, I give them advice and we usually spend Christmas and some time together.

The one who continues fighting to enter the family is Javier Santos, who does not cease his efforts to prove that Julio Iglesias is his father.

JJI: First news, because I had no idea about the last thing you told me. But hey, each one with his own things…

If you found out that you have a secret son, what would you do?

JJI: I think it’s almost impossible and, if I’m honest, I wouldn’t know how to react right now.
