Twenty-one-year-old Spaniard Josele Ballester has made history by winning the 124th US Amateur Golf Championship by beating American Noah Kent in the final by two holes at Nazeltine National in Chaska, Minnesota.
Ballester, who beat American Bobby Massa in the quarter-finals and Spaniard Luis Masaveu in the semi-finals, dominated the final by four holes before winning by two and becoming the first Spaniard to win this title.
Son of two Olympic athletes such as José Luis Ballester and Sonia Barrio, he had already been European amateur champion last year, thus obtaining invitations to the majors next year (Masters and US Open), provided he maintains his amateur status.
