José Benavidez, father of the renowned Mexican boxer David Benavidez, sent a harsh message against the boxer Saúl ‘Canelo’ Álvarez by assuring that he is not 100% concentrated in sports and that he is no longer applying the same dedication that he showed in previous years; He also stated that I think the Guadalajara is drinking more than necessary and this affects his performance in the ring.
“He has been very disciplined for a very long time and has a very long way to go after working very hard.. I think now she is drinking a little more. We didn’t see Canelo drink before,” Benavidez Sr. considered during an interview for the YouTube channel FightHype.com.
The father of one of the fighters who most wants to fight Canelo assured that he has been closely following the colorado’s career, especially after his fight against Dmitry Bivol in 2022 and the trilogy against Gennady Golovkin; all this with the sole objective of creating a strategy to defeat him.
“I have closely followed Canelo for five years. I have studied it very closely. He lost to Bivol and then it didn’t look too good with Golovkin. He’s still the pound-for-pound best and he’s accomplished a lot, but he’s in a position where his body isn’t responding like it used to. I think the time has come for the relief to arrive, ”he emphasized.
Finally, José Benavidez explained that Saúl Álvarez has been moving away from the ring to focus on the management of his new businesses such as alcoholic beverages, energy drinks, gas stations and self-service stores; as well as his participation in various golf tournaments.
“He plays more goal now and has his attention distributed in so many businesses that he has. I think his attention is not entirely focused on boxing. Unlike David, who is 100% focused on sports, ”she concluded.
These words from José Benavidez come amid a wave of messages from his son to be able to fight Canelo for the titles he currently holds, something that the man from Guadalajara has ignored.
