“It was the frozen evening” – The USA Print Magazine

Jorge Rial can talk about many things -he is one of the most experienced journalists in Argentina- but if there is one topic he can teach us, it is the ratings of Big Brother. Holder of the most impressive audience records of the Argentine version of the reality show when he was its driver, He harshly criticized the numbers for the 2024 final held last night and which resulted in the consecration of Uruguayan Bautista Mascia.

For Rial, now host of the Argenzuela program, both on the radio (La 10) and television (C5N) versions, It was the “frozen” final since the numbers were among the lowest of all the editions broadcast by Telefé. At some point, the game changed channels and was broadcast on América, until it returned to the Pelotitas channel.

The program that crowned Bauti as the winner of GH2024 averaged 19.5 rating points. Obviously it won in its time slot, it won the day and it was the most watched of the week if you don’t take into account the matches that Argentina played for the Copa América and that Telefé also broadcast, but it was far behind other finals. For example, last year’s, when Marcos Ginocchio left Nacho second and Juli “Disney” Poggio third with a consolidated score of 28.6 points.

The most watched final in history remains the one that Rial hosted, precisely. In 2007, when Marianela Mirra was crowned champion after “cleaning up” Diego Leonardi, the Ibope charts measured 39.1 points. Impressive, isn’t it? That’s why Rial is an authoritative voice to speak on this subject. No one knows better than him what it means to “generate content” and get the public interested.

No one else understood as he did when he had to step aside: in 2016 he left the series in the middle of the least watched edition of all time, which ended up being hosted by Mariano Peluffo: the final was 8.3 points and consecrated Luifa Galesio. As they say in these times “Libertarios”, “saw it” and got off the ship before it sank.

The final of the first edition of the reality show (won by the now prosecuted and imprisoned Marcelo Corazza) is still the second measurement, with 36.1 points. The one won by Cristian U (2011), the third with 31.4 points. Fourth was the second final (Roberto Parra won), with 29.7, and just below that of 2003 (winner was Viviana Colmenero) with 29.2. Then comes last year’s with 28.6. Below that is the one from the second edition of 2007, in which Bam Bam Morais won, with 20.4. Only there, that is to say eighth, was last night’s final with its aforementioned 19.5. Celebrity Big Brother had its ninth final in rating (14.8), tenth with 12.5 is the 2012 final (won by Rodrigo Fernández), and eleventh with 12.0 the 2015 final, where the champion was Francisco Delgado.
